No Bad News - A Story of Hope PDF Print E-mail

Written by Psychologist, Dr. Kenneth Cole, with photographs by John Ruebartsch, No Bad News encourages us to embrace the good news in our world. Through a child's eyes we learn a valuable lesson about life. Winner of the Ridgway Award for Best Debut in Children's Literature and the WLA Award for Outstanding Achievement in Children's Literature, No Bad News is an inspiring story of  the hope and promise that we all possess.

Our story begins as Marcus walks alone for the first time through his inner-city neighborhood on his way to Jackson's Barbershop. During his journey, he encounters some of the bad news in our world. Once at the barbershop, however, Mr. Jackson and the others encourage Marcus to recognize and embrace the good news that is all around him.

Which is exactly what he does on his journey home, realizing that there's good news all around him. Cole states, "No Bad News reminds us that there are good things and good people everywhere. And seeing it changes your life outlook on life and yourself in more ways than you ever imagined." This message of optimism, self-determination and our role in the world is one that continues to be embraced by people of all ages, races and cultures.
