| For nearly 20 years, Licensed Clinical Psychologist and award winning children's author, Dr. Kenneth Cole, has worked to inspire children, families and communities to realize the good news that exists within themselves and the world around them. From inner-city Chicago, to the southside of Los Angeles, he has been fortunate to be a witness to the power of resilience, self determination and hope. | |
Since writing No Bad News, Dr. Cole has spoken across the nation, co-lead a community forum with Dr. Bill Cosby and currently directs one of the largest outpatient mental health programs in Southern California.
As the Doctor of Good News, Cole's mission is simple; to help others in our world, regardless of age, race, class, gender, or political affiliation to search for the beauty that resides within us all. To embrace the power of a smile, appreciate the kindness of a stranger, embody the generosity of others, and extend a hand to someone in need. Says, Dr. Cole, "Every day we are provided opportunities to enhance our lives and that of others. And the first step is as simple as holding one's head high and looking for the good news that's all around you." |

Like the child's journey in the story, the production of No Bad News would not have been possible without the support and goodwill of the people of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Through volunteer efforts on hot summer days numerous residents of Milwaukee's inner-city gave of their time and homes to participate and guide this book to its completion. Dr. Cole feels that as a result No Bad News has a realistic quality that captures the beauty and kindness of an often misunderstood community. Says Dr. Cole, "It was truly inspiring to see the themes of No Bad News; those of hope, self-determination and resilience, materialize in the very people and neighborhoods who welcomed us during the production of this book. It is their kindness and generosity that are the embodiment of the good news in our world." |
