Educators have been the most avid and passionate advocates for literacy and the celebration of good news that No Bad News promotes.  Across the country teachers are using No Bad News to encourage reading and an appreciation of the diverse world we live in.  To inspire creativity and imagination, educators have developed a wide array of curricula and activities to celebrate good news and the message of the book.

Send us your ideas for curricula or class projects and we'll add them to our growing user-generated and online curriculum!  To get things started, here's a brief synopsis of what other teachers have done with the book No Bad News!

Educator Activity #1: Turning Bad News into GOOD:
This active participation entails groups of children facilitated by an educator to openly discuss the bad news they saw in No Bad News.  The "bad news" is written on a chalkboard or large piece of paper.  Once the roster is complete, the educator leads a discussion on what they saw and for each "bad news" item that's listed, the children are challenged to no only find ways of turning "bad news" into good news.  But also, and more importantly, pick one item of bad news and create a class project to implement this change.  An example that was embraced in South Central Los Angeles were children who stated that there was lots of trash in Marcus' neighborhood.  As a result of this activity, the children decided to take it upon themselves to organize a neighborhood clean up (see photos below).  Yes, good news everywhere.
