 | Although we may be stuck with a pretty tough economy for some time to come, it's clear that we'll have to rely on one thing, and one thing only to pull us through. Is it an economic stimulus or a couple extra bucks in our pocket? No. Or would it be all better if you won the Superlotto? Not likely. Thus, what's going to pull you through? MOXIE will? With the election of Barack Obama as our 44th president, the United States proved once again that we are a nation built on a foundation of Good News. And by embracing the Good News of this election, we are now able to say, with confidence, that the world our children will grow up in, will be very different, and yes, better than the one we grew up in. Happy Holidays from the Doctor of Good News! And here's the perfect holiday gift to put at the top of your list (and it don't cost a thing). This season we're all aware of the recession that we find ourselves, and as such we're very conscious of how far a dollar goes. In keeping with that, this gift idea is not on any shelf at Target, CostCo, WalMart or anywhere online, and it's certainly within the budget of everyone reading this article.

That being said, this gift is a simple one to give, but it will last a lifetime. Here's all you do; pick up the phone and call a friend or relative that you've not spoken to in quite some time. And during your conversation, share with them a good news memory that both of you shared. A moment where they were kind, you both laughed, or felt the true support of a friend. Chances are, they probably haven't thought much about that moment for quite some time. But hearing you discuss it will remind them, and yourself that every moment we share with others has the potential to enrich the lives of others. Every moment is precious, every laugh, joke or hug is indelibly left on the person you share it with. So, give the gift of a memory and call someone you've not spoken to in awhile and remind them of how special they are. Me? Well, I'll be calling family and friends as well. Reminding my mom of the field trip she chaperoned in kindergarten, my brother of football games in the hallway, and my uncle for teaching me that humor is one of the greatest talents in the world.

| Okay, I know I'm all about the good news here, but I have to talk a bit about this recession. All over the news, water cooler, blogs and talk radio, people are focused on how bad things are getting and how much they don't have anymore. And to be honest with you, a focus on what you don't have, and how bad things could get, well, that's not likely to pull you through. Basically, I'm here to say that you can ride this recession with a smile. Yes, a smile. And here's how.
In my hears as a psychologist I've had the opportunity to see a lot of people work through more struggles and trauma than you can imagine.
